M.O.G. Meeting
Melbourne OrigamiWe met for our regular meeting on Friday the 15th of November. I arrived just after 8pm with Brenda, Gareth, Martin and Steve already in attendance. Martin was busy teaching Gareth the Jackstone while Brenda talked to Steve about the possible motel commission. I went straight for Steve's what's new box. It seems every meeting Steven has a box of new creations this time it was a full alphabet and even diagrams for some of the letters. Soon after a new member Mathew arrived and Martin once again began to teach the jackstone. I talked to Steve about his new creations to get more details. It seems the folding sequence is based on dividing the paper into 9ths. We then looked at Gareth's new work the most impressive was a man riding a motorbike from one square of handmade tissue foil. We talked of different types of paper and which are best suited to complex models. Matt arrived and we began to discuss each others latest work.Mine was a group of origami tubes which Matt called Bon-Bons we talked about writing software to create the Bon-Bon crease patterns based on predefined sections. Matt was working on a photo modular for his exhibit in Thailand (look for the report when he gets back). Steve taught his kola on a branch to Gareth and Brenda folded from Harbins Origami 3. Matt, Martin, Mathew and I talked about the website, the conventions date / location / accommodation. We also decided the we needed to bring a digital camera to meetings so others can see what we've been up to.
Our next meeting will be the 6th December. Look for the report and photos shortly after.
